ZIMBABWE and South Africa should combine to fight the drug scourge sweeping across the two countries and the region, Matabeleland South Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister Albert Nguluvhe has said.

He was addressing athletes at the starting point of the rescuciitated Two Countries Marathon underway between Zimbabwe and South Africa Saturday September 20, 2025.

Accompanied by the Limpopo Minister of Sports Funani Jerry Maseko Nguluvhe also said sports was a unifier and can help cement relations between the two countries.

“Through collaboration and Sport we can be able to improve the Economies of our two countries. We can also fight drug and substance abuse with sport,” said Nguluvhe as he sent off the athletes on their 42 kilometre race.


Maseko said his Limpopo Province was thankful to their Zimbabwean counterparts for making possible rhe marathon and also spoke against drugs.


“We must not drop the ball because sport strengthens our two nations bond of friendship,” he said.


He asked Zimbabwe and South Africa to combine efforts in the fight against drugs.
