The Zimbabwean football fraternity has been plunged into mourning following the passing of FC Platinum midfielder Brian Banda in a car crash.

FC Platinum confirmed that Brian Banda passed away in a car accident which occurred yesterday, June 29  along the Zvishavane – Bulawayo road.

“We are deeply saddened to share the news of Brian Banda’s passing, which occurred today, June 29, 2025, in a car accident on the Zvishavane-Bulawayo road. Tragically, he lost his life at the scene, and FC Platinum has suffered the loss of a remarkable player. We kindly request that everyone respects his family’s privacy during this difficult time as they grieve, Pure Platinum said in a statement.

The club also paid tribute to Banda saying,”FC Platinum has Lost not only a talented athlete but also a beloved teammate and friend. Brian’s dedication to the sport and his infectious enthusiasm both on and off the field left an indelible mark on all who knew him. His contributions to the team were invaluable, and his spirit will continue to inspire us.”

Brian Banda ‘s former team, Highlanders FC described Banda  as a gifted midfielder.

“Highlanders Football Club is deeply saddened by the untimely passing on of Brian Banda, FC Platinum midfielder and former Highlanders player.Brian was a gifted midfielder who proudly wore the black-and-white jersey before continuing his professional journey with FC Platinum.”
