The Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Authority (Zimparks) has deployed a reaction team to locate a lion that reportedly escaped from Nyanga in Manicaland province a few days ago.
According to reports, the lion has already moved into Mashonaland East Province, with its tracks spotted in Macheke this week.
Mr. Tinashe Farawo, head of corporate communications for Zimparks, confirmed that the team is actively on the ground tracking the animal. He urged the public to remain calm and to limit movements during the night as the team continue to track down the animal.
“We are encouraging communities around Nyanga in Manicaland and those in Mashonaland East to remain calm and try to minimise movements at night. These big cats normally move at night. Our reaction team is on the ground.”
