Ziyah Media journalist McGeorge “Musanda” Mbare has graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree in Journalism and Digital Media from Midlands State University.
The 25-year-old was part of MSU’s 2026 graduating class capped August 27, 2026.
He shared the stage with other notable graduates, including Minnieyothabo Baloyi Chiwenga , wife of the Vice President of Zimbabwe.
Born in 2001 in Beitbridge, Mbare attended Zezani High School and Tongwe High School before pursuing his passion for media.
He joined Ziyah Media in September 2024 as a media intern, and has now returned to the organisation as a full-time employee.
At Ziyah News Network, Mbare serves as a sports reporter, sports commentator, and current affairs journalist.
He reports in both English and Tshivenḓa.
A notable skill which he learned from the Ziyah Media institution.
Speaking after the graduation, Mbare praised the Ziyah Media crew for their support during a major step that contributed significantly to his academic achievement.
“It’s been a long academic journey. Being on the internship side was tough to adjust to at first, but I eventually settled in and it went well. I learned so much during that time. The whole Ziyah Media crew supported me from start to finish. I can safely say being an intern at Ziyah Media helped shape me and made me who I am today, practically,” he said.
Ziyah Media management also congratulated Mbare on his achievement.
With his new qualification, Mbare said he will focus on strengthening sports coverage and current affairs reporting in Matabeleland South and other border communities.
As an intern, Mbare worked under veteran writers such as Rex Mphisa and Evans Dakwa whom he believes shaped his writing.
