The Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) has dismissed as fake, an advertisement circulating on social media purporting they are recruiting general duty soldiers.
Hlengiwe Dube the ZNA public relations director on Wednesday said the advertisement on a cloned letterhead was a product of mischief makers to mislead and defraud unsuspecting members of the public.
“The organisation has not flighted any general duty soldiers’ recruitment advert for 2026,”
“In the same vein, the ZNA does not use social media platforms for the purpose of recruitment. The organisation uses formal communication channels such as electronic and print media. Members of the public are once again advised that the ZNA does not engage third parties for recruitment nor do they charge a fee on applicants,” Dube said.
Anyone caught, said Dube impersonating recruitment agents or soliciting money in the army’s name will face prosecution.
Members of the public have been urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious individuals posing as recruitment agents.
The ZNA said such cases should be reported to Military Police hotline numbers 0712842318 or 0772258410, or to the nearest Zimbabwe Republic Police station or military installation.
