The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has assured the nation that it is committed to maintaining peace and order, ensuring the safety and security of all Zimbabweans.
The assurances comes against the backdrop of planned protests on March 31 being spearheaded by fired war veteran and ZANU PF central committee member , Blessed Geza who is ironically in hiding after the police issued a warrant of arrest for him.
Despite acknowledging the current peaceful environment, the ZRP has deployed officers to maintain law and order in both urban and rural areas across the country.
“In the same vein, the Police has deployed members to maintain law and order in both urban and rural set up in all parts of the country.”
The police have warned that they will take action against individuals or groups seeking to disrupt the peace.
“The law will definitely take its course against individuals and groups who seek to undermine peace and security in the country, including those using the social media to cause alarm and despondency among Zimbabweans,”said Police spokeperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi.
The public is urged to cooperate with deployed officers and report any incidents of violence or interference with traffic flow.
The ZRP aims to maintain a safe and secure environment for all Zimbabweans to undertake their social and economic activities without any disturbances.
