Fourteen secondary school athletes are set to represent Matebeleland South Province at the athletics national competition in Bindura.The young athletes are ready to join their Mat South peers in a training camp commencing in Plumtree tomorrow.

The most southern tip district, Beitbridge will be represented by 4 students from Zezani high school, three from Tongwe high school, three from Fountain college and one each from St Joseph, St Mary’s, Shashe school and Khwalu secondary school.

However, Tongwe high school sports master Emmanuel Ramagkapola noted that number the of athletes that will represent Beitbridge in the national has slightly decreased compared to the previous year due to lack of experience from most athletes.

“Last year we had 22 athletes who went to the nationals, so this year its a decline from the number of students we sent last year.”

The following is the names of athletes that will represent Beitbridge and Mat South Province at the national competition:

  7. Thembalethu Bajila (Zezani)
  8. Aluwani Simutha( Fountain)
  9. Tafadzwa Mushinyi( Fountain)
  10. Tendani Muleya(Fountain)
  11. Ashley Gwisai (St Joseph)
  12. Menzi Siziba (St Mary’s)
  13. Edwill (Khwalu)
  14. Tracy Ndou (Shashe)
