The battle for semi-final spots at the AFCON U20 championships gets underway today , as eight quarter finalists prepare to battle it out towards continental supremacy at U20 level in Egypt.
Following their impressive run in the group stages, defending champions Senegal will battle against Nigeria at the Suez Canal Stadium at 1500hours today, before COSAFA side South Africa’s Amajita lock horns with DR Congo at 2100hours.
In another notable fixture, hosts Egypt ‘s young Pharaohs will battle Ghana ‘s young Black Stars at 1800hours at the same time as Morocco ‘s young Atlas Lions take on Sierra Leone at 30 June Stadium.
Interestingly, among the eight quarterfinalists, the three most successful teams in this competition, seven time champions Nigeria , four time winners Ghana and Egypt will be fighting to add more titles into to their trophy cabinet.
As the teams battle, there is an added incentive for booking a semi-final berth as the semi-finalist will qualify to the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup.
