Zimbabwe’s Netball national team, the Gems displayed brilliant performances at the African Netball Cup, coming out of the tournament as Aftica’s third best team with a bronze medal and men’s team settling for bronze medal
The Gems showcased their dominance in the women’s third place offs defeating the African third ranked team Malawi 48-42 to secure back to back bronze medal finish in this competition.
The women team‘s accurate shooting and fluid movement through the court, especially in the backcourt and midcourt constantly giving the Malawians a difficult time across netball the court.
The Gems, Goalkeeper Elizabeth Mushore was named the best defender of tournament after displaying exceptional court coverage, intercepting key passes, forcing turnovers and was a defensive force to reckon throughout the matches against munch fancied sides.
Meanwhile, South Africa asserted their dominance by defeating Uganda 65-50 in the African Netball Cup final . The SPAR Proteas, were crowned champions in this competition.This is their fourth title.
The South African men’s netball team also won the title whilst the Zimbabweans came third in the male category like their sisters.
