South Africa’s women soccer team, Banyana Banyana secured an 8-1 victory over Seychelles in their final group match at the COSAFA Women championship 2024, effortlessly sealing their semifinal spot at their home soil.
Banyana Banyana finished their group matches undefeated, with this 8-1 win marking their third consecutive victory in the COSAFA women championship group stages.
Banyana Banyana ‘s Kesha Hendricks scored a brace during the first half with Ntando Phala ,Tshegofatso Motlogelwa and Sinamile Mkwanazi adding three goals more to take a 5-0 advantage into the halftime.
Hendricks continued to shine, displaying a top class performance until she found the back of the net on the 51th minute for the third time grabbing a perfect hat- trick.
Ayesha Moosa on the 53th minute and Mkwanazi again on the 62th minute added their own two goals to make it eighty meanwhile Seychelles’ Pascallina Moustache scored a consolation goal from the penalty spot on the 74th minute.
South Africa finished their stages on top of group A with nine points followed by Namibia with six points in three games whilst Seychelles have zero points and minus 20 goal difference.
Elsewhere, on group B ,Malawi wrapped up their group stage campaign at the COSAFA women championship with a perfect record thumping Mauritius 9-0.Malawi is now on top of group B with seven points in three matches, as they managed win two and drawn one.
