Seven players from Chavuma Town Council football Club in Zambia lost their lives in a traffic accident and 12 others left injured on their way to the North Western Province division one league fixture.

The accident brings back memories the1993 football fans were left mourning after a military aircraft carrying 30 Zambian national team and their coaching staff who all died on their way to Senegal for a world cup qualifier match. Fast forward 2024 seven players from Zambia local league lost their lives players in an accident that left 12 players injured and still alive.

In a statement issued from Lusaka, Football Association Zimbabwe president Andrew Kamanga, expressed his sadness and condolences pertaining the bush crush, noting that he has spent the day at North Western Province as the guest of honor at the Sentinel Academy launch in Kalumbila   

According, to the CAF Media, CAF president Dr Patrice Motsepe also conveyed his deepest condolences to the families of seven players who lost their life in a road accident in Zambia.

“I convey my personal and CAF ‘s deepest condolences to the family ,friends and the football association of Zambia .We hope and pray that those who were injured will fully recover soon ,May God comfort and console the family ,friends and colleagues of the deceased and the football association of Zambia ” CAF president Dr Motsepe said.

The CAF reports states that the names of players involved in the fatal accident are not yet released to the public.
