THE battle for survival and supremacy continues in the Central Region Soccer League, with teams bracing themselves for the Matchday 21 fixtures scheduled for Saturday, 22 August and Sunday, 23 August 2026.
Nine league matches are lined up, with six fixtures set for Saturday and three on Sunday, promising an action packed weekend across the region.
Second placed Kwekwe United FC will host Shabanie Mine at Baghdad Stadium in a crucial encounter.
Kwekwe United are aiming to close the gap on log leaders Blanket Mine, who currently sit on 48 points.
Kwekwe are three points behind the leaders and will be desperate to keep their promotion ambitions alive as they push for a return to the Premier League.
The match Is expected to be one of the weekend’s most anticipated encounters, with both sides desperate for maximum points for different reasons.
Third placed West Nicholson will host debutants Good Morning FC at Phelandaba Stadium on Saturday.
West Nicholson are level on 45 points with Kwekwe United and sit just three points behind leaders Blanket Mine.
Nicholson have been impressive this season and are firmly in the promotion race.
Nicholson is hoping to bring Premier League football to Matabeleland South, a historic ambition that several teams from the province have previously dreamed of achieving.
Beitbridge side, Dulibadzimu United will host Super Strikers as they continue their fight for survival.
Following their 1-0 victory over Good Morning FC, the Beitbridge side will be looking to maintain its winning momentum and collect another crucial three points.
Fellow Beitbridge side, Vhembe Stars Academy will travel to Maphisa on Saturday to face Matobo FC in another important relegation battle.
Following their heavy 4-0 defeat to title contenders Chapungu, the Greens face another stern test as they look to move away from the relegation zone.
Both Matobo and Vhembe Stars have struggled for consistent results this season, making Saturday’s encounter particularly important for both sides.
Elsewhere on Saturday, Gwanda Pirates will travel to Sabi to face Sabi Mine, while Tongogara will host Grain Tigers.
On Sunday, ZRP Gwanda will travel to Makusha Stadium to face Shurugwi, who are also battling to avoid relegation.
Chapungu, meanwhile, will welcome 13th placed MSU FC to Ascot Stadium.
In another highly anticipated fixture, league leaders Blanket Mine will face a stern test when they travel to face seasoned campaigners FC Platinum U19 at Mandava Stadium.
Backed by their home crowd, FC Platinum will be expected to go all out for maximum points and upset the log leaders Blanket Mine.
With promotion firmly in Blanket Mine ‘s sight, every point is vital for them as they attempt to hold off the pressure from Kwekwe United and West Nicholson, who are both just three points behind.
