The road to the continental club glory continues as two Egyptian and South African clubs battle in the 2nd leg semi-final of the CAF Champions league today.
Following their 0-0 draw at FNB Stadium, Orlando Pirates and Pyramids FC are set to lock horns in the land of Pharaohs in their second leg encounter scheduled for 2000hours.
The 1995 champions, the Buccaneers remains the only unbeaten side in this season’s champions league while Pyramids FC are the tournament’s top scorers.
Defending champions, Al Ahly SC will battle Mamelodi Sundowns in also in Cairo.
Following their 0-0 draw at Loftus Stadium in South Africa, Al Ahly SC will be looking forward to book spot in the final backed by the home crowd. Meanwhile, 2016 champions, Mamelodi Sundowns will be seeking to keep their hopes of a treble alive by reaching the CAF Champions final w and winning it, alongside their two domestic titles, Nedbank Cup and League title.
On the other hand, Red devils are only left with the hopes of winning CAF Champions league trophy only following their withdrawal from the Egyptian Cup participation this season.
Mamelodi Sundowns’ coach Cardoso enters this fixture under immense pressure from the board to deliver the champions league and secure his job. Failure to win the champions league might result in his dismissal, following his predecessor Rhulani Mokoena who was sacked after failing to deliver the champions league.
