WESTVALE Children’s Institution (WCIZ) has appealed to businesses, organisations, churches, development partners and well-wishers to support the development of a children’s centre aimed at improving the welfare of more than 200 vulnerable and disadvantaged children in Beitbridge.
In an open letter to stakeholders , the institution’s Chief Executive Director, Arnold Muzanenhamo, said the centre was being developed to provide a child-friendly environment offering education, early childhood development, child protection, nutrition, disability inclusion, sport and recreation.
Muzanenhamo said the Beitbridge Municipality had allocated 10,200 square metres of land for the development of the facility, adding that construction had already commenced.
He revealed that 81 children had already been enrolled in the institution’s programmes, highlighting the growing need for resources to ensure the successful completion and operation of the centre.
“We are appealing to businesses, organisations, development partners, churches, individuals and well-wishers for cash or in-kind donations towards” the development of the facility, he said.
The institution is seeking assistance in various areas, including building materials, educational resources, water and sanitation facilities, feeding programmes, accommodation for vulnerable children, sports equipment and disability inclusion materials.
Other priority needs include classroom and office equipment, computers, furniture, clothing, school uniforms and a solar-powered energy system.
The institution said contributions could be made in cash, materials, equipment or through sponsorship of specific components of the project.
“Every contribution will directly assist us in creating a safe, inclusive and dignified environment for children,” Muzanenhamo said.
He added that the institution was committed to improving the lives of disadvantaged children in the border town, calling on the corporate sector and the wider community to partner with the organisation.
“We sincerely invite you to partner with us in building a better future for more than 200 children in Beitbridge,” he said.
The appeal concludes with a message underscoring the institution’s commitment to child welfare: “Every contribution counts. Every child matters.”
