A man who lent money to another has ended up with a broken tooth and a trip to the dentist, leaving him counting losses on two fronts.

Edson Mapurisa hauled Takudzwa Mushipe before the court over R1500 which he was owed.

Mapurisa said pursuit of the money led to an assault that left him with a broken tooth.

On top of the R1500 he was owed, Mapurisa said he is now claiming $89 for removal of the tooth and other medical expenses incurred.

The respondent was in default. He was served but refused to sign.

Standing before Magistrate Mbonisi Kaweni, Mapurisa pressed for his money back plus the medical costs.

When asked to provide proof of the medical expenses, he could not provide.

Magistrate Kaweni probed whether the assault was reported to the police and discovered indeed the matter was handled by the courts.

Kaweni ordered Mushipe to pay R1500 being money he owes and $89 in addition for the medication.
