BEITBRIDGE Government Primary School flighted an advert tenders to build an Early Childhood Development (ECD) block at the biggest primary education school in the district.

The tender has strict participation conditions, and has warned contractors that failure to comply with set requirements leads to automatic disqualification.

In a public notice on Monday , the school invited suitably qualified contractors to submit quotations for labour for the ECD block, outlining a detailed scope of works that spans from setting out and excavation to roofing, plastering and floor screeds.

However, the tender is being governed by non-negotiable conditions, chief among them a compulsory site visit scheduled for 13 February 2026 at 10:00am at Beitbridge Government Primary

The school said contractors who do not attend the site visit will be disqualified from the bidding process.

Further tightening access to the tender, the school indicated that bidding requirements will only be issued to contractors who register in person on the day, effectively closing the door to off-site or proxy submissions.

The conditions signal a firm approach to procurement at a time when public schools have faced scrutiny over construction projects that stalled, exceeded budgets or failed to meet standards due to weak oversight and poor contractor selection.

The scope of works listed including footing concrete, brickwork to window level, ring beams, wall plates and gables points to the construction of a permanent ECD facility, rather than temporary classrooms that have become common in under-resourced schools.

The tender comes amid sustained pressure on government primary schools to improve early childhood learning environments in line with national education requirements as enrolments continue to rise without corresponding expansion of infrastructure.

No details were provided regarding the project’s funding source, estimated cost or completion timeframe.
