Beitbridge– A Beitbridge man has been arrested and arraigned before the Magistrates Court of the Border town accused of uttering words, through a video recording meant to ‘engender feelings of hostility or cause hatred, contempt or ridicule of the President’ thereby undermining the his authority.

Ezekiel Chiradza (35) was arrested and brought before the court after police got a tip of from an informant Lawrence Mbanje who alerted the police of a video circulating where Chiradza uttered words that were inciting and undermining the President.

It is the State’s case that on the 2nd day of September 2024, the informant watched a video which had been published on Zim politics a WhatsApp group where the accused was seen singing undermining words about the President whilst praising Nelson Chamisa.

In the video the accused is seen singing and uttering the words in Shona loosely translated to: “Mnangagwa you have destroyed the country, I have gone to all places from Bulawayo, Masvingo Bridge the country is in tatters. Police stop following people the Bond, ZiG are a useless currency we want the US$”

“Chamisa you are a comrade, our soldier, you are the President we are waiting for your time which is close so that we can go to Canaan. Come and take over power so that your people can go to Canaan, you are the King, the chosen one, we, your soldiers await you the President of Presidents.”

The accused’s conduct was deemed unlawful and his mobicel venus-G cellphone with Zimbabwe Econet line number 0778168385 recovered by the police. He was granted a US$100 bail by the Beitbridge Magistrates Court
