PACE Setters Tennis Academy will serve up the Beitbridge Tennis Tournament on August 1 at Beitbridge Sports Club.
In pursuit of “catching them young”, junior players will battle for honours and sharpening of their skills.
The tournament, running under the theme “Train, Compete, Succeed,” is open to players in the Under-10, Under-12, Under-14 and Under-16 categories.
Pace Setters coordinator Pauline Phiri said preparations are on course and the academy is using the tournament to scout talent.
“Preparations are going well and one of the aims is to identify talent in preparation for the upcoming national tournament in August,” he said
He said the academy also wants to increase participation and give young players valuable match experience.
“We are aiming to have more players take part in these games and have exposure through competing,” he said.
He also said, the academy recently had a St Joseph’s Primary player represent Matabeleland South at the NAPH National Tennis Tournament in Mutare this year.
At the age of 11, Anotidaishe Katinhu won 2 games, losing 2 placing him in position 6 out of 10 provinces that competed, representing Matebeleland South.
