Three men from Beitbridge, Nkosi Nkomo (27), Majajama Ndlovu (24), and Hulisani Ndou (21), have been sentenced to 10 years in prison for robbery. The Beitbridge Magistrates’ Court convicted them of breaking into a home, threatening the occupant with a pistol, and stealing a laptop, hair clippers, and a cell phone.
Circumstances are that the three offenders in the company of their two accomplices who are still at large robbed the complainant at his place of residence in Beitbridge.
The accused gained access by scaling a precast wall and proceeded to where the complainant was fixing his car. They threatened him with a pistol, demanding cellphones and money, then force-marched him to his house, broke a glass table, and stole a grey Lenovo laptop, hair clippers, and a Samsung cellphone before fleeing the scene.
The complainant informed his younger brother, who resides in South Africa, about the robbery. His brother tracked the complainant’s Samsung phone which had a Vodacom line, providing the location of the offenders.
The national Prosecuting Authority states that the complainant reported this information to CID Beitbridge, leading to the arrest of the offenders, while two accomplices escaped.
The complainant recovered his laptop and a hammer, small pistol, and two torches used in the crime were also recovered.
The value of the stolen goods was ZAR6000 and the recovered goods were valued at US$200.
