THE Beitbridge West Constituency Member of Parliament, Thusani Masita Ndou, has commended the progress of the ongoing construction of a NetOne network booster at Shashe, Ward 8, Village 11.
MP Ndou confirmed that the construction of the NetOne booster is now nearing completion.
“Recently I went to the site for an inspection. The progress is very good. I can safely say it is about 90% complete. We are now only waiting for NetOne to come and install the satellites and also deliver the generator for electricity,” Ndou said.
Ndou also acknowledged His Excellency, President E.D. Mnangagwa, for his commitment to ensuring clear calls, better internet and digital opportunities for communities in Shashe and neighbouring areas such as Toporo and Jakukange.
The network development is part of the Presidential Projects Scheme and marks a significant step toward improving connectivity in a region that has remained isolated from Zimbabwean local networks since independence.
In an interview with Ziyah News Network, Beitbridge West MP Thusani Masita Ndou said the NetOne booster will be a joint initiative hosting three service providers: Econet, Telecel, and NetOne itself.
“The booster will not only carry the NetOne network, but also Econet and Telecel,” said Ndou.
Ndou described the initiative as a milestone in bridging the digital divide and ensuring that residents of Beitbridge West are no longer cut off from Zimbabwe’s local networks.
The NetOne booster is expected to be 100% complete before the end of 2026.
For decades, Beitbridge West residents in areas such as Shashe, Jakukange, Iphai, Masera, and Limpopo have relied on foreign networks such as Botswana’s Orange and South Africa’s MTN, Vodacom and Telkom due to the absence of local coverage.
The competition of this booster will competely transform the lives of thousands people in Beitbridge West.
