A 40-year-old Beitbridge woman, Memory Moyo, was arrested on Sunday morning after police detectives recovered more than 8 kilograms of dagga worth $550 from her luggage at the Bubi Security roadblock.
A memorandum from CID Drugs Beitbridge said detectives from the Anti-Smuggling Taskforce stopped a Freightliner truck at around 8:45 AM following a tip-off that the suspect was transporting illegal drugs.
The truck, driven by a 56-year-old South African national, Brian Zipho, was travelling from South Africa towards Masvingo with Moyo as the sole passenger.

Detectives instructed both occupants to identify their belongings during the search.
Moyo had a sky-blue China bag, which, had two cobs of dagga wrapped in red plastic and transparent packaging.
The recovered drugs weighed 8.5 kilograms in total and were valued at approximately US$550.
Investigations later revealed that Moyo, who is unemployed and resides in the New Medium suburb of Beitbridge, allegedly bought the dagga in South Africa.
She is believed to have smuggled the drugs into Zimbabwe through an illegal crossing point along the Limpopo River, intending to resell them in Masvingo, according to investigations.
Moyo was arrested on the spot, and the seized drugs were weighed in her presence.
She is expected to appear in court on December 9, 2025, to answer a charge of unlawful possesion of dangerous drugs as defined under Section 156(1)(a) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act [Chapter 9:23].
Zimbabwe has declared a war against drugs, and the interception by the police at Bubi has been hailed as a job in the right direction.
