A 13-year-old girl identified as Mercy Shenjere was on Friday night kidnapped by armed robbers who later went on a streak of hits targeting residents of Beitbridge’s new Medium Density suburb.
The mother of the girl Moreblessing Ruzvidzo, 28, said a lone gunman raided their home around 9pm and stripped phones from her and her girl child who has not been seen since the attack.

Police were at the scene last night and were said to have heard gunshots at another house where a resident Holan Kasamula was robbed of R2 500 before they fired a shot and went into the dark.
Five other houses were hit by the gunmen whose description has been said to be “a dreadlocked slim built young man”.
A broken Ruzvidzo said her daughter who hid in another room was force-marched away because the robber said he wanted her to show him the pattern locking her phone.
“They went away with her because we hid in different rooms and they asked me to shout my pin code while they took her so she will draw her lock pattern,” she said pain all over her face.
No police comment was available when Deputy Beitbridge Police District commander Philisani Ndebele said he was out in Bulawayo.
