A 38-year-old man has died on after he was struck by a tyre that spun off a moving truck at Lutumba Business Centre 20 kilometres north of Beitbridge.
Beitbridge businessman Beji Muleya sent a distress message for an ambulance after the man was knocked to unconsciousness in a freak accident that left many shocked at the business centre.
“He was later carried by some other people and the ambulance had to go back,” said Muleya.
He was pronounced dead on arrival at Beitbridge District Hospital.
While his details are still being withheld for the next of kin, he is known to have come from Harare to his village of origin when he met his fate.
“He was known as a person who had been buying Mopani Worms as business at Lutumba,” said one Lutumba resident.
