ZBC’s Montrose Studios in Bulawayo is set for a major upgrade, as the government accelerates media modernization under the 100-Day Cycle Programme.
The transformation aims to position Zimbabwe’s broadcasting sector at the forefront of digital technology and enhance local content production.
During a visit to the studios on Friday, Deputy Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Dr. Omphile Marupi, highlighted the strategic significance of the project in strengthening Bulawayo’s role as a cultural and media hub.
“This upgrade is a key part of President Mnangagwa’s broader vision to modernize our media infrastructure and decentralize media production beyond Harare,” Dr. Marupi explained.
“It reflects the government’s commitment to empowering regions like Bulawayo through devolution,” he added.
The project will see the installation of advanced digital broadcasting equipment, with most of the necessary gear already procured.
When completed, Montrose Studios will feature two state-of-the-art television studios and eight radio studios, boosting Zimbabwe’s capacity to produce diverse, high-quality content for national and regional audiences.
