The journey to continental glory in the CAF U15 Schools Championship begins today, as eight nations prepare to battle for glory in Ghana.
The tournament which kicks off today will run until 26 April at the University of Ghana in Accra.
COSAFA’s South African boys team is set to lock horns with Algeria in their opening match. South Africa’s U15 boys are in group A alongside host Ghana, Algeria and Uganda.
South Africa ‘s girls team will also n part of the football jamboree is set to face Uganda in the opening match today. South Africa’s girls are in group B alongside Gambia, Uganda and DR Congo.
Fellow COSAFA side Malawi’s girls team will be playing against Morocco, Ghana and Benin in group A. While Tanzania ‘s U15 boys team will face Senegal, Ivory Coast and DR Congo.
The competition features a substantial prize package, with the winner receiving $300,000, the runners-up $200,000, and the second-placed runners-up $150,000. This will significantly elevate the standard of African schools sports as CAF continues to invest in grassroot football development.
