The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially announced the top 5 nominees for the coverted African player of the year, set to take place in Morocco on the 16th of December 2024.

According to CAF Media ,CAF has shortlisted their 2024  top 5 outstanding players which include Sanaa Mssoudy (Morocco),Chiamaka Nnadozie (Nigeria),Barbra Banda (Zambia)and the Chawinga sisters ,Temwa and Tabitha (Malawi).

The shortlisted top 5 players reflect the excellence in women‘s football across the continent, as evidenced by Barbra Banda who recently won the BBC African women footballer of the year and Temwa Chawinga‘s impressive record by becoming the first player in National Women Soccer league history to score against every team in a single regular season, recording 20 goals.

Meanwhile ,the CAF goalkeeper of the year category ,interclub player of the year category ,CAF women coach of the year and CAF young player of the year category, have also unveiled with 5 outstanding players in each category.

The winners of each category will be determined through votes from CAF’s Technical committee, media professionals, head coaches as well as the clubs participating in the group stages of interclub competitions.

More importantly ,the African continent is guaranteed to have a new winner of the African women player of the year as the 2023 winner Asisat Oshoala ,is not amongst this year ‘s nominees.
