The President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Dr. Patrice Motsepe, expressed his deep sadness following the sudden death of former Democratic Republic of Congo goalkeeper Paul Kalambay.  

In response to the news, Dr. Motsepe conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the family of Mr. Kalambay, the President of the Congolese Football Federation, and the entire Democratic Republic of Congo football community.  

“May the soul of Mr. Paul Kalambay rest in eternal peace,” said CAF President Dr. Motsepe.  

Kalambay was a member of the Democratic Republic of Congo national team that won the Africa Cup of Nations in 1974.  

In another unfortunate event, on November 10, CAF President Dr. Motsepe also expressed his condolences to the family of Moroccan football legend Hassan Akesbi and the Moroccan Football Federation. Akesbi, a former player for AS Monaco, Stade de Reims, and the Atlas Lions, passed away on November 9 at the age of 89.
