Highlanders Football Club has confirmed receiving the second tranche of US$250,000 from businessman Sir Wicknell Chivayo, as part of his pledged US$1 million support package for the 2025 season.

In a statement released on Wednesday 22 October 2025, the club said the latest disbursement brings the total amount received so far to US$500,000, which has been channelled through a trust account managed by the club’s curator.

According to Highlanders, the funds have been instrumental in covering players’ welfare, including winning bonuses, travel expenses, and match allowances.

Part of the donation is also being directed toward infrastructure development — specifically upgrading training pitches and constructing a perimeter wall at the club’s clubhouse.

Club Executive Chairman Rtd. Col. Kenneth Mhlophe expressed gratitude for Chivayo’s continued generosity and support, saying the contribution has lifted team morale and is expected to boost on-field performance.

“The club believes this support will improve the mood in the team and encourage better performances,” Mhlophe said.

He said Highlanders FC remains appreciative of Chivayo’s commitment and looks forward to the remaining tranches of the promised donation.
