A police officer has reportedly confessed to the fatal shooting of Detective Constable Cassandra Hove, a member of the Zimbabwe Republic Police’s elite all-female CID Team Lozikeyi.

Constable Muradzikwa, stationed at the Hillside Police Station, is currently in custody at Donnington Police Station following his admission of guilt.

According to sources within the police, he told investigators, “I do not need a lawyer,” demonstrating a shocking level of openness about the incident.

Muradzikwa is expected to appear in court today to face murder charges stemming from the tragic event.

Detective Hove, aged 37, was shot during a police operation in the Pumula South suburb on March 6, 2025, while her team was pursuing suspects linked to a series of armed robberies.

Initial reports indicated that Hove was shot by fleeing robbers; however, new evidence has pointed to Muradzikwa as the assailant.

The shocking confession has raised concerns within the police force, prompting an internal investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting and the overall conduct of officers involved in the operation.
