Reports indicate that up to 19 armed robbers stormed the farm during the early hours, making off with a huge sum of cash.
The robbery has raised eyebrows, particularly as it took place shortly after Chivayo’s lobola payment, which he confirmed to be much lower than some media reports had suggested.
“My in-laws charged me not more than US$20,000 for lobola,” Chivayo told H Metro.
He emphasized that while he had set aside additional funds, they were intended for other expenses related to the ceremony.
“I had an additional US$75,000 in my car as a contingency, but it remained unused. The main costs of the event went towards entertainment, decor, and drinks,” he added.
The timing of the robbery has led to speculation about whether the stolen cash was linked to the funds Chivayo had mentioned.
Sources close to the investigation suggest that the robbers may have had inside information regarding the cash stored at the farm, given the large number of individuals involved in the raid and their swift escape.
As of now, there have been no arrests made, and police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the robbery.
Chivayo has not commented on the incident, and his in-laws have also chosen to remain silent.
