Vhembe Stars Academy FC will start their Munhumutapa Cup campaign on Saturday with a difficult match against league leaders Chapungu FC at Dulibadzimu Stadium.
The match dubbed “David vs Goliath” battle because Vhembe Stars are struggling in the middle of the log in the league while Chapungu FC are in top form.
Vhembe Stars recently lost 0–2 to Chapungu in the opener to Central Region Division One League.
They now sit 12th on the table with 6 points while Chapungu FC lead the league with 19 points.
Even after the defeat, Vhembe Stars hope playing at home in front of their supporters will help them improve and fight for a good result in the Munhumutapa Cup.
Assistant coach Paul Mugabiri said the team has been playing well but needs to avoid mistakes, especially in defence and goalkeeping.
Chapungu FC come into the match full of confidence due to their strong performances this season.
However, cup games can bring surprises, and Vhembe Stars will hope to shock the league leaders.
For Vhembe Stars, this game is also a chance to recover from their recent defeat and bring back confidence to the team.
