Gaborone-The leading African diamond producer Botswana, heads to the polls today for their general elections as one of the Africa’s longest ruling party in Africa the Botswana Democratic Party forward to stretch to their 58 years rule alongside with their candidate to remain in power for another five year term.

The Botswana Democratic Party has been in power since 1966 when Botswana gained independence from the British that means BDP has been ruling the country for a total of 58 years.

 63 year old, President Mokgweetsi Masisi became President of Botswana in April 2018 after the departure of Ian Khama. Masisi is seeking a second five year final term.

Botswana is one of the African countries with beautiful stories to tell when it comes with peace, stable democracy and has an impressive living standard amongst its citizens.

While BDP has been dominating in Botswana since independence ,the elections comes in at a critical moment where the Batswana people are looking forward to have a leader who will solidify and address their economic issues in a long run.

Intrigue in these elections has been added by the entrance of Former President, Ian Khama into the Presidential race against a Party which has father as one of the founding fathers.
