A fatal road traffic accident occurred yesterday morning at the 197 km peg along the Masvingo-Beitbridge Road, resulting in the loss of two lives and injuring two others.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police has confirmed the accident.Tragedy struck when the Rimbi bus lost control and rammed into the trailer of the Tombs Motorways bus before colliding with the Mbokoto bus.
“The accident involved three buses Tombs Motorways, Mbokoto, and Rimbi. The Tombs Motorways bus had stopped by the roadside after hitting a donkey, and passengers were being transferred to the Mbokoto bus, which was also parked nearby,” said Police Spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi.
The bodies of the deceased were taken to Beitbridge Hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination, while the injured are receiving treatment at the same hospital.
The ZRP has launched an investigation into the accident, and more details will be released in due course.
