THE Minister of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare, Edgar Moyo, has commended the work done by various Ministries, Departments and Agencies, development partners, civil society organisations, individuals and community leaders at the Beitbridge Reception Centre.
Moyo said this during his visit to the Beitbridge Reception Centre on July 23, 2026.
Moyo commended the following departments and organisations, the Ministry of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare, Angel of Hope Foundation, International Organisation for Migration (IOM), Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), Higherlife Foundation, Zimbabwe Red Cross Society, UNICEF, other United Nations agencies, private companies including Providence and Inscor, churches and individual well-wishers.
“I wish to extend heartfelt appreciation to the various Ministries, Departments and Agencies, development partners, civil society organisations, individuals and community leaders who have worked tirelessly to ensure that the needs of migrants are met. Your dedication has been instrumental in providing humanitarian assistance, psychosocial support, and pathways for reintegration. Together, we have demonstrated that collaboration is the cornerstone of effective social protection. “ Moyo.
Moyo also said that some returnees face challenges with transport upon reaching their district destinations. He said he had engaged authorities in different districts to find solutions for those who end up stranded.
Presenting the report to Moyo, Matabeleland South Provincial Director of Social Welfare, Chriswel Nyakudya, said the minister should not worry, as everything was in order.
“We are getting the support that we need. We have been given fuel to travel and everything through donations and government institutions. As of now, I plead with you, not to lose sleep. We are managing and we are on top of the situation.”said Nyakudya.
Nyakudya also said it was not easy at the beginning, but through the help of different organisations and departments, every returnee who comes through the reception centre has received a dignified exit.
He said all donations at the reception centre are registered and accounted for to ensure that the kitchen and the returnees are provided with everything they need in a transparent manner.
As of 23 July 2026, reports presented to Moyo indicate that 35,936 Zimbabwean citizens have passed through the Beitbridge Reception Centre and received assistance from various departments working tirelessly.
