The European Union (EU) is making a fundamental impact at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) for the third consecutive year, unveiling its largest international pavilion at the event.

Following previous successes, including awards for Best and Most Outstanding Foreign Display, the EU is this year turning its attention to the importance of private-sector partnerships and sustainable investment in Zimbabwe.

With an expanded #TeamEurope presence, the EU Pavilion features contributions from several member states, including France, Germany, Italy, Sweden, Romania, the Netherlands, Portugal, and Belgium. This collaborative effort spotlights various projects currently operational in Zimbabwe, showcasing the EU’s commitment to fostering economic development through partnerships.

During ZITF week, the EU launched a new phase of its Global Gateway campaign under the theme “SILANI, TINEMI, EU WITH YOU.” This initiative aims to educate the public about the positive effects of Global Gateway programs, reinforcing the collaborative relationship between the European Union and Zimbabwe in pursuing inclusive and sustainable business growth.

This year’s ZITF theme, “Industrialisation: Crafting an Integrated Economic Landscape,” aligns seamlessly with the EU’s objectives, echoing Zimbabwe’s National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1) and Vision 2030 ambitions.

As part of its commitment to support Zimbabwe’s economic aspirations, the EU has facilitated a total of €90 million in financing to local commercial banks over the past three years. This funding has been channeled through credit facilities and trade finance, showcasing the EU’s investment strategy aimed at job creation and financial inclusion.

Central to this partnership is the EU-Zimbabwe Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA), which enables Zimbabwean companies to export goods to the EU on a 100% duty-free and quota-free basis. This framework not only opens new avenues for Zimbabwean exports but also allows local industries to modernize through the tariff-free importation of machinery from Europe.

At the EU Pavilion, attendees will find comprehensive information regarding trade opportunities, export requirements, and support for agricultural machinery imports.

The pavilion is designed to serve as a meeting point for European and Zimbabwean stakeholders keen to explore trade and investment potentials.

Visitors can also engage in a series of dynamic activities led by the EU Delegation’s Global Gateway Ambassadors, including discussions on climate-friendly agri-businesses and empowerment initiatives focused on youth and women. This engagement aims to foster meaningful dialogue around pressing issues affecting Zimbabwean society.

The #TeamEurope Pavilion represents a crucial space for building stronger trade and investment links between Zimbabwe and the EU. The EU’s participation in ZITF 2025 underlines its long-term commitment to support Zimbabwe in achieving its goal of becoming an upper-middle-income nation by 2030.

With the “SILANI, TINEMI, EU WITH YOU” campaign, the EU continues to reinforce its dedication to a sustainable and prosperous future, inviting businesses, entrepreneurs, and visitors to discover the opportunities that lie in collaborative growth between the European Union and Zimbabwe.
