The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed that Ghana will host the CAF African Schools Football Championship 2025, set to take place from 21 to 26 April 2025.
This marks the first time the tournament’s continental finals will be held in West Africa, following previous editions in Southern Africa (South Africa, 2023) and East Africa (Tanzania, 2024).
Following its launch in 2022, the program has brought together thousands of boys and girls from 46 countries, making it the most successful youth sport mobilization program in Africa.
The competition includes a substantial prize package with the winner receiving USD$300,000, runners up $200 000 and the second placed runners up 150000.This has significantly enhanced the standard of the African schools sports.
The COSAFA region will be represented by South Africa ‘s girls as the holders and Malawi as the runners up while at the boys category South Africa ‘s boys team will also represent the region.
According to CAF, the African Schools Football Championship is a brainchild of the CAF President Patrice Motsepe in partnership with the Motsepe foundation which donated around 10milion USD. He launched it in the year 2022 in Mozambique.
