Harare – Photos of former First Lady Grace Mugabe and Second Lady Minnie Baloyi at Dr Mugabe’s 60th birthday celebrations have gone viral, drawing widespread admiration and sparking conversations online.

The stylish duo were pictured in coordinated outfits during the private event, with the images first shared by Baloyi on her official Facebook on Sunday, 3 August. She captioned the post:

“Cheers to more happy blessed years Amai and Tete (Mwenewazvo) at the same time . You aging gracefully.”

The post quickly gained traction, with Zimbabweans at home and abroad praising both women for their elegance, poise, and sense of style. Social media was flooded with comments describing the pair as “iconic,” “timeless,” and “a class act.”

Grace Mugabe, affectionately dubbed “Gucci Mai Bona” during her time as First Lady, appeared radiant at the celebration, standing beside Minnie Baloyi, wife of Vice President Constantino Chiwenga.

The coordinated appearance of the two women both influential in their own right struck a chord with many online, who saw the moment as symbolising grace, unity, and continuity within Zimbabwe’s political circles.

“This is the Zimbabwe we love to see powerful women supporting each other, aging with dignity and style,” one user wrote.

For some, the images stirred a sense of nostalgia, recalling Grace Mugabe’s once-dominant presence in national affairs, while others applauded Minnie Baloyi for the respectful and heartfelt tribute.

Though the occasion was personal, the public response underscored the powerful symbolism behind the post a rare display of camaraderie between past and present figures in Zimbabwe’s leadership.

As the photos continue to make rounds across social media platforms, one thing is certain: Grace Mugabe and Minnie Baloyi have captured the attention and admiration of a nation once again.
