Government through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade has warned the public of fake job advertisement on Facebook claiming to be recruiting for Zimbabwe’s embassy in Kenya.
The fraudulent advert has been created under the name Zimbabwe Embassy in Kenya and the ministry has moved in to protect the job seeking public by distancing itself from the scam that is asking job seekers to pay money upfront.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade wishes to advise the public of a job recruitment SCAM that is being advertised on a Facebook page created by an unknown person on 14 June 2025, under the name: Zimbabwe Embassy Kenya, said the Spokesperson of the Ministry Mrs Philisiwe Chidawanyika in the statement.
She went on to give the public further details and warning that the Government of Zimbabwe is in no way affiliated to the scamming individual (s) saying, ” The page purports to be recruiting staff for the Embassy of Zimbabwe in Kenya and provides a list of fraudulent job offers, with a requirement to pay US$375 to receive an “Africa Regional Labour Accreditation Certificate” as part of the recruitment process, she said.
“Members of the public are advised that this Facebook page does not represent the Embassy of the Republic of Zimbabwe in Kenya, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of the Republic of Zimbabwe nor the Government of the Republic of Zimbabwe.”
Chidawanyika also advised members of the public that recruitment into the public service of Zimbabwe is conducted through the Public Service Commission, and that no money is requested at any stage of the recruitment process.
” The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade encourages members of the public to verify job offers for opportunities in foreign countries with the Ministry or our Embassies.”
With the job marketing shrinking and demand high, scammers have become sophisticated in creating fake job adverts tha equire job seekers to part with money as part of the recruitment process, several people have fallen victim to these scammers who mostly operate online with same getting robbed, raped in the process.
