CENTRAL Region Soccer League log leaders Blanket Mine face another stern test in the Munhumutapa Cup when they travel to Gibbo Stadium for Triangle FC in the Round of 16.
The fixture is scheduled to be played between 28 and 30 August 2026, with Blanket Mine looking to continue their impressive run in Zimbabwe’s prestigious domestic cup competition.
The Gwanda-based side learnt their opponent following Wednesday’s Round of 16 draw.
Blanket Mine remain the only Central Region Soccer League side left in the competition after Gwanda Pirates and Kwekwe United fell short in the Round of 32.
Blanket Mine secured their place in the last 16 after defeating Premier Soccer League side TelOne in the Round of 32.
The match ended 1-1 in regulation time before Blanket Mine prevailed 4-3 on penalties.
Backed by the home crowd, Triangle FC will give Blanket Mine no space to breathe.
The Gwanda side will need to produce another disciplined and determined performance if they are to secure a place in the quarter-finals.
The Munhumutapa Cup represents an opportunity for Blanket Mine to continue their remarkable underdog story.
Having already eliminated Premier Soccer League side TelOne, Blanket Mine will be hoping to upset Triangle FC and keep their dream of lifting the trophy alive.
There is perhaps no better cup story than an underdog defying expectations and upsetting teams with greater resources and experience.
Blanket Mine’s journey has already captured that spirit and their clash with Triangle FC promises to provide another stern challenge and an exciting encounter.
Elsewhere, Ngezi Platinum Stars will host Herentals as both sides battle for a place in the quarter-finals, while FC Platinum will welcome Black Rock to Mandava Stadium.
Chilli FC will face Premier Soccer League side Bulawayo Chiefs, while Jordan will battle Hard Rock FC at home.
FC Hunters will host Hwange FC, while Caps United will take on Manica Diamonds at home.
Reigning Premier Soccer League champions Scottland FC will also be in action when they host MWOS U19.
