A 28-year-old woman from Gwanda has been convicted of unlawful possession of dangerous drugs after being caught with over 400 grams of dagga, following a police raid on her home in December 2025.
The Gwanda Magistrates’ Court found Sithembiso Sibanda guilty after police detectives from West Nicholson B Mine acted on a tip-off and discovered 12 sachets of dagga weighing 0.41 kilograms in her bedroom.
Officers were alerted that the suspect was allegedly selling the drugs from her tuck shop.
Sibanda was immediately arrested and later sentenced to pay a fine of USD200 or serve two months in prison if she fails to pay.
In a statement, the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) said its commitment to fighting drug trafficking, warning that no one is above the law.
The public is urged to report drug-related crimes as part of the national effort to combat substance abuse.
