Worbet Gumbo (33) appeared before the Harare Magistrates’ Court yesterday facing charges of unlawful possession of dangerous drugs after police found him with two sacks of dagga.
The court will deliver a bail ruling on June 8, 2025.
Allegations are that on June 2, 2025, at approximately 2130 hours, Gumbo was observed by detectives from the Criminal Investigation Department Drugs and Narcotics, Harare, at the Houghton Park Roundabout on Simon Mazorodze Road, Harare.
He was seen with two white sacks, sitting on one and examining the contents of the other with his mobile phone’s light.
The detectives, who were on routine highway patrol, approached Gumbo, identified themselves, and requested to search his sacks for dangerous drugs.
During the search, they recovered fourteen 1 kilogram vacuum-sealed transparent plastic packets of dagga.
Gumbo was arrested and transported with the recovered drugs to CID Drugs and Narcotics Harare.
The recovered dagga weighs 14.160 kilograms with an estimated street value of US$1680.00.
