A 25 year old man from Chipinge has been sentenced to 4 years imprisonment for physically abusing his 51-year-old father Christopher Chikunga, in Chipinge.

Gidionson Chikunga was  arraigned before the Chipinge Magistrates’ Court where he was convicted of the offence.

The victim is Christopher Chikunga, a 51 year old man and the father of the offender.

Circumstances are that  the offender, Gidionson Chikunga came home and woke his father and mother. Gidionson began shouting and demanding money from his Father.

He then hit his father on the face with an empty beer bottle. His mother ran to the neighbour’s house to call for help.

Gidionson then went into the kitchen, took two kitchen knives, and charged towards his father, who managed to escape from the room. The neighbour arrived and took Gidionson away as he was threatening to burn a truck parked outside.

NPAZ has urged the public to avoid violence highlighting the consequences.

“The NPAZ would like to encourage members of the public to desist from violence and to note that suspended sentences always come into effect when one commits a similar offense within the prescribed time limit.”
