A 37 year old Harare man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for raping his 9-year-old biological daughter.
Circumstances are that the father called the child to his bedroom, ordered her to undress, and then raped her. He repeated this act just minutes later, warning the child not to reveal the abuse. He was convicted and sentenced by Harare Magistrates’ Court.
As reported by the National Prosecuting Authority (NPAZ), the accused person called the complainant to his bedroom where he ordered her to take off her clothes before raping her.
He ordered her not tell anyone after committing the offence. He called her again to his bedroom after a few minutes and raped her again.
The matter came to light when the complainant confided in her mother about the offence that same day. The complainant’s mother mobilized her neighbours who helped her apprehend the accused person.
A Police report was made leading to the arrest of the accused person.
