Highlanders FC has appointed Kindman Ndlovu as the interim chairman of the club, alongside Executive Member for Marketing Morgen Dube and Board Member Elkanah Dube, as part of an interim leadership team to ensure the smooth running of the club.
The appointments follow the tragic passing of Chairman Retired Colonel Kenneth Mhlophe, Vice Chairman Sifiso Siziba, and Executive Committee Member for Finance Nkani Khoza, who perished in a car accident on Thursday, July 23, 2026.
In a statement, Highlanders confirmed the appointments as the club continues to mourn one of the darkest periods in its history.
“Highlanders Football Club wishes to inform its members, supporters, and stakeholders that the Club’s Board has appointed an interim leadership team to ensure continuity in the administration of the Club following the tragic passing of Chairman Retired Colonel Kenneth Mhlophe, Vice Chairman Sifiso Siziba, and Executive Committee Member for Finance Nkani Khoza.
Executive Committee Member responsible for Technical Affairs, Kindman Ndlovu, has been appointed Acting Chairman and will work closely with Executive Member for Marketing Mr. Morgen Dube. Board Member Elkanah Dube will oversee the Club’s operations,” the Highlanders FC statement reads.
Elkanah Dube will oversee the club’s administration, while Mathew Dube will take charge of financial affairs, a portfolio previously held by the late Khoza.
The club said the temporary appointments are aimed at maintaining stability and ensuring day to day operations continue during the mourning period.
The club also expressed confidence in the interim leadership, citing that their experience and commitment will help guide the club while preserving the legacy, values, and vision of the club.
The team’s executives who tragically died in a road crash on July 23, 2026, were buried on Monday, July 27, and Tuesday, July 28, 2026.
Siziba (Vice-Chairman) and Khoza (Treasurer) were buried at Lady Stanley Cemetery in Bulawayo on Monday, July 27, 2026, immediately following a joint service at Barbourfields Stadium.
Mhlophe (Chairman) was laid to rest at Lady Stanley Cemetery in Bulawayo on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, with military honors.
Sibanda, the supporter lost in the same crash was buried in Filabusi on Tuesday, July 28, 2026.
