An ominous week on the Beitbridge -Masvingo- Harare highway has continued to deliver sad news as another head on collision between a haulage truck and a Honda Fit has killed one person on the spot.
The fatal collision occured near Matsheloni Business Centre about 45 kms from Beitbridge when a silver Honda Fit which was escorting an abnormal load collided head on with a GVC haulage truck going to South Africa.
The truck driver was trying to avoid hitting a stray donkey and encroached onto the on coming lane hitting the Honda Fit which was escorting the abnormal load enroute to Shurugwi.
Driver of the badly damaged Honda Fit died on the spot.
Beitbridge District is synonymous with animals straying onto the road and the unfortunate accident is one of many which have been caused by animals straying onto the road after the servitude fence has been vandalised.
The latest crash comes within a seven day period where the road has witnessed three fatal crash including the much talked about one involving the Urban Connect bus which claimed 25 lives.
