A Beitbridge man has been barred from insulting and assaulting his wife for five years after she sought refugee from the court following deteriorating domestic disputes.

Clear Dube and her husband Eddmore Hwarare’s case, was heard before Magistrate Mbonisi Kaweni, who handed down his ruling after the two reached a consensus.

Dube, approached the court seeking a protection order against her husband, citing emotional and physical abuse.

She told the court that Hwarare had insulted her by calling her barren and had also assaulted her.

In response, Hwarare denied the allegations saying the claims were false.

But he had no objection to the court granting the order as requested by the Dube, he said.

Following submissions from both parties, the matter was settled by consent, with Kaweni ordering that Hwarare be barred from engaging in the alleged conduct for a period of five years.
