A Beitbridge businessman held his fort and foiled what would have been an armed robbery at his home on Tuesday night when he fired two shots through his door where suspects were trying to force in.
The incident was at Lutumba, 20 kilometres outside Beitbridge along the Harare road and the businessman Tichaona Maphosa of Maphosa Bricks and Sands said he was at the police station where investigations are on.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police comment was not immediately available.
But Ziyah News Network has it on good authority the suspects arrived in the dead of the night but Maphosa heard them attempting his door and took pro-action after alarming neighbours.
As the suspects took time on his doors where security has been enhanced, he surprised them by firing twice through the door turning the hunters into the hunted.
A suspect may have been hit, it is believed, concluding from spilt blood at the door but the would be robbers ran for dear life.
