THE Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed the arrest of murder, attempted murder and rape suspect, Anymore Zvitsva (32) in Guruve on the afternoon of January 3, 2026.
Police also confirmed the arest of another Guruve man who assaulted a young woman forced into sacks.
“I can confirm the arrest of Zvitsva this afternoon. He was arrested during a joint operation by the Zimbabwe Republic Police and the Zimbabwe National Army,” national police spokesman senior assistant commissioner Paul Nyathi told Ziyah News Network.
He said Zvitsva was arrested in a joint operation by the ZRP and ZNA while hiding in a garden.
He was receiving medical attention at a local hospital under heavy police guard, according to another ZRP site.
“Police applauded the Guruve community and all Zimbabweans for the support rendered during the comprehensive manhunt for the suspect. More details on the criminal charges and court appearance will be availed in due course,” said the site.
Zvitsva (32), also known as Modho, is suspected to have killed 12 people and had allegedly compiled a hit list.
He was suspected to be working with unknown accomplices primarily targeting single women and households where husbands were away.
He is linked to multiple murders, including a family of five on Ona Farm, and others in Zimuna and Nyakapupu villages. The victims include women and children.
Fear had, before his arrest, gripped the community, and authorities intensified security operations.
A bounty had been offered for information leading to his arrest.
There are reports that the community had previously apprehended Zvitsva for other offenses, but he was released by local police, a decision that caused public anger.
“We also areested another man from Guruve who video went viral when hs put a woman in a sack and started beating her up,” Nyathi said.
In the video the girl accused of prostitution is viciously attacked while her head and body are in sacks.
The barbaric assaults are done while someone is recording with a camera.
At one time the audibly subdued and whip weary girl asks to relieve herself as she stresses she was not into prostitution.
