Maxwell Jongwe has resigned as head coach of Bulawayo Chiefs with his assistant Bekithemba Ndlovu assuming the head coach position on an interim basis.
The Bulawayo side have confirmed the resignation of their head coach, citing his desire to return to his hometown of Harare and work closer to family.
“Bulawayo Chiefs Football Club wishes to inform all stakeholders that we have received a letter resignation from head coach, Maxwell Jongwe. Coach Jongwe had recently taken a leave of absence to attend to his wife, who has been unwell for sometime now. Understanding the importance of family, the club fully supported his decision to allow him to be closer to his loved ones in Harare, during this challenging time”., the club said.
“After careful consideration, the club has accepted Coach Jongwe ‘s resignation. We respect his decision to prioritise his family and wish him all the best as he embarks on new engagement in his home city, Harare, where is where his family is,” Bulawayo Chiefs stated.
Bulawayo Chiefs will be hoping their club to continue with their winning rhythm under the leadership of Bekithemba Ndlovu and counterparts Azlom Ndlovu and Nkosiyazi Ncube.
Following their relegation from the Premier Soccer league last season , Bulawayo Chiefs, has secured 5 consecutive wins in 5 matches, without conceding a single goal under the now departed Jongwe
