USA – Zimbabwean Warriors defender  Devine Lunga and his South African club, Mamelodi Sundowns have registered their first win in the new edition of the Club World Cup, defeating Ulsan HD FC 1-0.

After their dreadful first  campaign in 2016 where they lost all their matches, Mamelodi Sundowns have made a remarkable turnaround, redeeming themselves with a narrow win against South a Korea ‘s Ulsan in the 2025 new edition.

The Brazilians become the first African  club to secure a victory in the new format of the club World  Cup , however overally they  become the third  to secure a victory in the history of the Club World Cup, after TP Mazembe and Al Ahly SC.

Meanwhile, Devine Lunga featured the entire 90 minutes against Ulsan HD FC, becoming the second Zimbabwean footballer to play in the tournament after Khama Billiat.

Lunga delivered a top notch  performance in Mamelodi Sundowns’ defence, helping teammate to keep a cleansheet and collect maximum points.
